What is Tether (PIX)
PIX is Brazil's instant payment network, run by the central bank and settling reais in seconds at any hour. Selling Tether through it means Banxa buys your USDT at a quoted rate and sends the reais straight to your account without waiting for a batch.
This is a well-worn route rather than an unusual one. Brazil is among the largest markets for dollar stablecoins anywhere, and instant domestic payments are a large part of why: money can move into and out of dollar-denominated holdings at any time of day, which is not true in most countries.
The network you send on matters more than the amount for most sellers. USDT is issued across many chains and which of them can be sold from depends on where you are, because the restriction attaches to the coin and network together rather than to Tether as a whole. The list on your own quote screen is the only reliable one.
On the banking side you are addressed by a PIX key rather than an account number, which can be a CPF, a phone number, an email address or a random string. Entering one resolves it to the registered holder and shows that name before confirmation, so a mistyped key shows up as a wrong name rather than as a vanished payment.
Two clocks run in order. Confirmation time depends on the chain you sent from, ranging from a few seconds to several minutes, and the reais leg afterwards takes seconds. Almost the whole wait therefore belongs to the blockchain rather than to the payment system.
Business days do not apply. PIX operates continuously, including weekends and national holidays, so there is no cut-off to miss and no queue waiting for the next working day. A sale confirmed at three in the morning pays out at three in the morning.
There is a nighttime constraint worth planning around. Brazilian banks apply reduced PIX ceilings overnight, generally from eight in the evening until six in the morning, as a fraud control, so a larger payout is easier to complete during daylight hours.
Cost is carried in the quoted rate rather than shown separately, and it holds both the spread and the conversion from dollars into reais. That second component is real here in a way it is not on a dollar rail, because the token targets a dollar and the payout is in reais.
Limits apply per transaction and over rolling periods, varying with verification level and location, and a first sale normally brings an identity check. On the crypto side, sending on a chain the quote did not offer is the expensive error and is rarely reversible.
Neither side of this transaction can be undone. USDT settles on whichever chain you sent from and stays settled, and reais delivered over PIX have no routine route back. Checking the key before confirming therefore matters more here than it would on a rail that bounces bad payments home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Because instant domestic payments let money move into and out of dollar-denominated holdings at any hour, which is not possible in most countries. That combination has made Brazil one of the deepest stablecoin markets anywhere, and it is why real pricing for the token is often quoted directly rather than assembled from the dollar pair.
Whichever one your quote screen offers for your location. Tether exists on many chains and sell support varies by chain and country together rather than by the token alone. Sending on a network the quote did not list is the costly mistake here, because those funds usually cannot be recovered or processed against your sale.
Yes, unlike a dollar payout. The token aims at one US dollar and PIX pays in reais, so a currency conversion sits inside the quoted figure alongside the spread. The rate you see before confirming is what reaches your account, so comparing it against the market rate is how you read the total cost.
