What is Ethereum (PIX)
PIX is Brazil's instant payment system, operated by the central bank, and it settles reais between accounts in seconds at any time of day. Sell Ethereum through it and Banxa buys your ETH at the quoted rate, then pushes the reais out immediately rather than into a batch.
Payments are addressed by a PIX key instead of an account number. The key might be a CPF, a phone number, an email address or a random string generated by your bank, and each of them points at the same account behind it. Which one you use changes nothing about how the money travels.
One property of the rail helps sellers more than they expect. Entering a key resolves it to the registered account holder and displays that name before confirmation, so a wrong key shows itself as a wrong name rather than as a payment that vanishes. The account must still be yours and match your verified details.
There is a detail on the Ethereum side that catches people emptying a wallet. Gas is paid in ETH, so a balance sent down to the last unit leaves nothing to cover the transaction fee and the transfer will not go through. Keep a margin back, and make it larger when the network is congested and fees are moving.
Two clocks then run. Ethereum blocks arrive about every twelve seconds, but a deposit is credited on confirmations rather than on one block, so the crypto leg usually runs to a few minutes. The reais leg afterwards takes seconds.
That balance is the opposite of what most bank rails produce. Almost the entire wait sits with the blockchain, and PIX contributes so little that there is nothing left to optimise on the payment side.
Business days are not a factor. PIX operates continuously, including weekends and national holidays, so there is no cut-off to miss and nothing waiting for the next working day. A sale confirmed late on a Saturday pays out late on a Saturday.
Overnight limits are the one constraint worth planning around. Brazilian banks apply lower default PIX ceilings between roughly eight in the evening and six in the morning as a fraud control, so a sale that would clear without comment in the afternoon can run into a cap after dark. Larger cash-outs are easier during the day.
Cost is carried in the quoted rate rather than itemised, and it contains both the spread and the conversion from dollars into reais, since Ethereum is priced against the dollar first. Gas to send the ETH is separate and paid on the crypto side.
Limits and verification apply as they do on any sale, with a first cash-out usually bringing an identity check. Once the ETH reaches Banxa's address it is settled and cannot be recalled, and once the reais arrive they are final too, because PIX has no ordinary reversal path. The key is worth double-checking before you confirm.

Frequently Asked Questions
Gas on Ethereum is paid in ETH itself, so a transaction that moves your whole balance has nothing left to pay the fee with and will fail. Leave a margin behind whenever you send, and leave more than feels necessary when the network is busy, because the fee rises with demand rather than staying fixed.
Seconds, once the Ethereum has confirmed. PIX settles in real time rather than in batches, so the payment side contributes almost nothing to the total. The wait you actually experience is the confirmation on Ethereum, which usually runs to a few minutes and longer when the network is congested.
It is the identifier a payment is addressed to, in place of an account number. It can be your CPF, a mobile number, an email address or a random string issued by your bank, and all of them resolve to the same account. Entering one shows the registered holder's name before you confirm.
