What is XRP (NPP Direct Entry)
Australian payouts are bank transfers keyed to a BSB and an account number, and two networks stand behind them. The New Payments Platform clears in close to real time including outside banking hours; direct entry, the older system, settles on a business-day cycle. Which one carries a payout depends on routing rather than on any choice you make.
The larger risk on this page belongs to the crypto side. Deposits of XRP to an exchange or payment provider normally require a destination tag, a short number telling the receiving system which account the funds belong to. Send without it, or with the wrong one, and the coins reach the address but never your account. Recovery is a support process with no assured outcome.
The Australian dollars go to an account in your own name, addressed by a six-digit BSB identifying the bank and branch, followed by the account number. A mistake in the account number is more awkward than one in the BSB, since the payment can still reach a live account somewhere.
Because the routing works on digits rather than names, the rule that the destination must be yours comes from Banxa rather than from the receiving bank, and it is applied before the payment goes out. A transfer aimed at a partner's or a company's account is not permitted even where the bank would post it without comment.
Two clocks then run, and neither is long. XRP's ledger closes every three to five seconds and a deposit is final the moment it does, with no confirmation count to sit through. The banking leg afterwards takes moments.
So the banking leg is the uncertain half rather than the fast one. The newer network delivers in minutes regardless of the day; direct entry waits for the next business day and skips weekends and public holidays. Assume the quicker path, but do not commit to a date on the strength of it.
Your bank sets its own ceiling on what it will release or accept in real time, independently of any limit at the Banxa end. On a larger cash-out that bank ceiling is often the first one you meet, and it can usually be raised through online banking.
Cost is folded into the quoted rate rather than shown separately, holding both the spread and the conversion from US dollars into Australian dollars, since XRP is priced against the US dollar before anything else. XRP's own network fee is a tiny fraction of a coin.
Sales carry per-transaction ceilings and rolling limits that vary with your verification level and location, and a first cash-out usually brings an identity check. Larger amounts bring questions about where the XRP came from, and answering them promptly is what keeps a fast sale fast.
Once the coins reach Banxa's address the ledger has settled and nothing can be recalled. On the banking side a payment sent to a wrong but valid account can only be chased through your bank's own tracing process, which takes far longer than checking the digits before you confirm.
