What is Polygon (SEPA)
SEPA is the scheme euro-area banks use to move euros, and it is how a Polygon sale reaches your bank account. Banxa buys your POL at a quoted rate and sends the euros on as a standard credit transfer.
The euros arrive in a euro account held in your own name and matching your verified Banxa account. A payout aimed at a business account, or at an account in another name, is rejected by the receiving bank rather than held. That mismatch causes more failed cash-outs than everything else combined.
The network question matters more for POL than for most assets, and getting it wrong is the costly mistake on this page. POL exists both on the Polygon network and as a token on Ethereum, and selling is supported from the Polygon network. POL sitting on Ethereum mainnet is not the same deposit as far as the sale is concerned. Bridge it across first, or you will send funds that cannot be processed against your quote.
The name is also worth a sentence, because holders who have been away for a while still think in terms of MATIC. The token was renamed POL as part of the Polygon 2.0 migration, and balances carried over. If your wallet shows MATIC, it is the same asset under its former label.
Two clocks follow. Polygon produces blocks every couple of seconds and confirmations are quick, so the crypto leg is measured in minutes. SEPA settlement is quoted at one to three business days and dominates the wait, with weekends and public holidays excluded from the count.
Cost sits inside the rate you are quoted rather than on a separate fee line. The euro figure shown before you confirm is what reaches your account. Polygon's network fee is a fraction of a cent and is not the number that will affect your total.
Per-transaction ceilings and rolling cumulative limits apply, and crossing one tends to prompt further checks rather than a refusal. The applicable thresholds show at quote time and depend on your verification level and country.
Your first sale brings an identity check even with a buying history behind the account, and larger sales add questions about where the funds came from. Answering without delay keeps the payout at the short end of its range.
On the bank side, failures are the usual set: a wrong IBAN, a closed account, a name that does not match. Each ends in a returned payment that takes several days to unwind and comes back as euros, not as POL.
Once your POL reaches Banxa's address the transfer has settled on-chain and cannot be recalled. Only the euro leg remains correctable from that point.
The exposure specific to this rail is the wait rather than the price. Your euro figure is locked when you accept the quote, and the money then sits in transit for days after a chain transfer that took seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not directly. Selling is supported from the Polygon network, and POL held as a token on Ethereum mainnet is a different deposit as far as your quote is concerned. Bridge it to Polygon first. Sending from an unsupported network risks funds that support cannot usually recover for you.
No. MATIC was renamed POL during the Polygon 2.0 migration and balances carried across, so a wallet still showing the old label is holding the same asset. Check the network it sits on rather than the ticker, because the network is what determines whether the sale can proceed.
Polygon confirmations take minutes, then SEPA settlement takes one to three business days. The bank leg is the long part. Weekends and public holidays are excluded, so a sale confirmed on a Friday evening usually lands on Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week.
