What is Polygon (Faster Payments)
Faster Payments is the UK network that moves pounds between accounts in seconds, at any hour of the week. Selling Polygon through it means Banxa buys your POL at a quoted rate and sends sterling to your bank.
The pounds land in a UK account held in your own name, identified by sort code and account number, matching your verified Banxa details. A payout aimed at a business account, or one in someone else's name, is rejected by the receiving bank.
UK banks apply Confirmation of Payee to the sterling leg, comparing the payee name against the name registered on the destination account, which catches the spelling differences that other countries would let through. A warning there is worth stopping for, because clearing it afterwards takes longer than fixing the detail now.
The network matters more for POL than for most assets, and this is the mistake to avoid. POL exists both on the Polygon network and as a token on Ethereum, and selling is supported from Polygon. POL sitting on Ethereum mainnet is a different deposit as far as your quote is concerned. Bridge it across first. The rename is worth knowing about for the same reason: the token became POL during the Polygon 2.0 migration and balances carried over from MATIC, so a wallet still displaying the old ticker holds the same asset under its former label. What decides whether the sale works is the network the coins sit on, never the ticker your wallet happens to show.
Both clocks are short, which makes this one of the quicker pairings available: Polygon produces blocks every couple of seconds so confirmation takes minutes at most, and Faster Payments then settles in seconds. The network runs at weekends too, so no business-day count applies at any stage.
Cost is folded into the quoted rate rather than itemised, so the sterling figure shown before you confirm is what reaches your account. Polygon's network fee is a fraction of a cent and will not move your total.
Per-transaction ceilings and rolling cumulative limits both apply, and crossing one usually triggers further checks rather than a refusal. Your bank also sets its own Faster Payments receiving limit, often lower than the scheme permits, and a payment above it can be held at their end rather than ours.
A first sale brings an identity check even on an account that has bought before. Larger sales add questions about where the crypto came from, and answering those quickly is what keeps a payout quick.
On the sterling side, failures come from a wrong sort code or account number, a closed account, or a Confirmation of Payee mismatch, and returned payments generally come back quickly.
Once your POL reaches Banxa's address the transfer has settled on-chain and cannot be recalled. Only the sterling leg stays correctable from that point.
Because both legs are quick, there is little time to catch a mistake in flight. That puts the weight on the network and the account details you set before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not directly. Selling is supported from the Polygon network, and POL held as a token on Ethereum mainnet counts as a different deposit against your quote. Bridge it to Polygon before you sell. Sending from an unsupported network risks funds that support cannot usually recover.
No. MATIC was renamed POL during the Polygon 2.0 migration and balances carried across, so an old label still means the same asset. What matters is the network the coins sit on rather than the ticker, because the network determines whether your sale can go through.
Within minutes overall. Polygon confirms in a couple of seconds per block, so the crypto leg is short, and Faster Payments settles in seconds afterwards. There is no business-day count, so a sale started at the weekend pays out at the weekend.
