What is Cardano (PIX)
PIX is the instant payment system run by Brazil's central bank, settling reais between accounts in seconds and operating without interruption. Selling Cardano through it means Banxa buys your ADA at a quoted rate and sends the reais out straight away rather than into a batch.
One thing works in your favour before the sale even starts. Delegating ADA to a stake pool does not lock it: the coins stay liquid and can be sent whenever you choose, with delegation ending as soon as they move. Sellers who have been earning rewards do not need to unwind anything first, which is a genuine difference from networks that bond coins for a fixed term.
On the banking side you are addressed by a PIX key rather than an account number, which might be a CPF, a phone number, an email address or a random string issued by your bank. Entering one resolves it to the registered account holder and shows that name before you confirm, so a mistyped key surfaces as an unexpected name rather than as money going astray.
Two clocks then run in sequence. Cardano produces a block roughly every twenty seconds and a deposit is credited once it has gathered enough of them, so the crypto leg usually runs to a few minutes. The reais leg afterwards takes seconds.
That balance is the reverse of what most bank transfers produce. Nearly the whole wait belongs to the blockchain, and the payment system contributes so little that there is nothing left to optimise on the banking side.
Business days do not apply. PIX runs continuously, weekends and national holidays included, so a sale confirmed on a Sunday evening pays out on a Sunday evening and nothing is held over for the next working day.
One constraint applies after dark. Brazilian banks impose lower default PIX ceilings overnight, generally between eight in the evening and six in the morning, as a fraud control. A payout that would clear without comment in the afternoon can exceed that cap, so larger sales are more straightforward during daylight hours.
Cost is folded into the rate you are quoted rather than itemised, and two components sit inside it: the spread on the sale, and the conversion from dollars into reais, since Cardano is priced against the dollar first. Cardano's own transaction fee is small and paid on the crypto side.
Sales carry per-transaction ceilings and cumulative limits over rolling periods, both varying with your verification level and your location. Failures here are mostly benign: an unrecognised or mistyped key is rejected before any money moves, and the payment never leaves. A first cash-out normally brings an identity check, and larger amounts bring questions about where the ADA came from.
Both halves of this sale are final once done. The ADA cannot be recalled after it settles on Cardano, and PIX carries no ordinary reversal path for the reais either. That symmetry is unusual, since most rails leave one side recoverable, so the key is worth reading back before you confirm rather than after.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Delegating to a stake pool on Cardano does not lock the coins or impose a waiting period, so a delegated balance can be sent and sold whenever you like. Delegation stops as soon as the coins move. That is a meaningful difference from networks where staked balances are bonded and cannot be moved until they unbond.
The reais move in seconds once the ADA has confirmed, and confirmation is usually a few minutes on Cardano. PIX settles in real time rather than in batches, so practically the whole wait belongs to the blockchain rather than to the bank, which is the opposite of most countries' payment rails.
Yes, and overnight and on public holidays. There are no business days to count and no cut-off to miss. The one caveat is that Brazilian banks apply reduced PIX ceilings between roughly eight in the evening and six in the morning, so a larger payout can run into a cap after dark.
