Selling Polygon in Singapore
Selling Polygon (POL, formerly MATIC) in Singapore uses the standard SG framework, with the migration as the practical wrinkle.
Mechanics. Send POL or MATIC to a regulated platform, complete KYC, agree on the sell rate in SGD, choose a payout. The MATIC-to-POL migration ran through 2024-25 with one-to-one conversion. Most regulated platforms now require POL; unmigrated MATIC needs the swap before some venues will accept it. Banxa accepts both during the transition window per regional rules.
Polygon is technically several chains (PoS, zkEVM, AggLayer); the chain matters for the deposit address. Network fees on PoS are fractions of a cent. Payout via PayNow or FAST.
IRAS tax. Personal capital gains generally not taxable for retail investors. The MATIC-to-POL migration is unlikely to be a taxable event for retail holders given the personal-capital-gains framework, but treatment is fact-specific. For systematic traders, the migration may be relevant to the income calculation. Worth a tax adviser for material positions.
GST does not apply to crypto-to-fiat sales of digital payment tokens.
Banxa's Singapore coverage reflects PSA-licensed activity through MAS.
Crypto prices are volatile. Token migrations carry their own operational risks. This is not financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
You take a quoted rate, send the tokens from your wallet, and once the deposit confirms the sale settles and the payout goes to your bank by PayNow or FAST. Polygon's side is cheap and quick, with fees typically in cents, so the elapsed time mostly comes from deposit crediting and payout processing rather than the network.
Your own wallet with the tokens in it, photo ID for the one-time verification step (minutes on the first order, absent afterwards), and an SGD account held in your name; a mismatch between the account name and the verified name is the single most avoidable payout delay. Also confirm you are sending on the network the deposit address specifies.
Trace it in order: the transaction hash shows whether the transfer confirmed (Polygon is usually quick), the order status shows whether the deposit credited, and after that any wait is payout-side review or bank timing. Sale limits are not fixed figures; they track verification level and payout method, and yours are shown upfront.
