Selling Polkadot in Poland
Selling Polkadot in Poland follows the Polish kapitaly pieniezne framework at 19% PIT, with bonding as the practical constraint.
Mechanics. Send DOT to a regulated platform, complete identity verification under MiCA and Polish AML rules, agree on the sell rate in euros, choose a payout. Polkadot blocks finalise in around six seconds. SEPA bank transfer is the default.
The bonding wrinkle. DOT held in nominator bonds, parachain crowdloans, or governance referenda is not transferable until unbonding completes. Nominator unbonding takes 28 days. Crowdloan locks unlock at the end of the parachain lease. Plan ahead.
Polish income tax. DOT disposal gains for individuals fall under the kapitaly pieniezne basket at a flat 19% PIT rate. Crypto-to-crypto swaps are not taxable events. DOT staking, nomination, and crowdloan rewards may be treated as separate income items, depending on arrangement. This is general information, not tax advice.
Regulatory framework. KNF supervises in Poland. Banxa Europe IV BV (EUIV) services Polish customers under MiCA.
Important information for retail customers in the EU. Crypto-assets are not deposits and are not covered by deposit-guarantee schemes. Authorisation of crypto-asset service providers under MiCA does not constitute an investor-compensation scheme and does not protect against price losses. Crypto prices can fall sharply, including to zero in some assets, and you can lose the full amount invested. Settlement of any sell order depends on identity verification, payment processing, and blockchain confirmation. The tax information on this page is general only and is not tax advice; rules depend on individual circumstances and may change. The Dutch financial markets authority (AFM) publishes consumer-facing information on crypto-asset risks for EU retail clients.

Frequently Asked Questions
Bonded DOT cannot move until it unbonds, and Polkadot's unbonding runs 28 days, so that wait dwarfs everything else. Once the DOT is transferable, the sale is quick: the payout figure sits on the quote screen before any DOT moves, the network confirms the transfer, and the payout goes out by SEPA. Plan the unbonding first; the rest follows in short order.
Transferable DOT in a wallet you control, not still sitting in a nomination bond. Photo ID for a one-time verification pass, minutes in most cases, then never again. And a payout account in your own name matching those documents. One Polkadot footnote: leaving about 1 DOT behind keeps your address active, as the network requires a small existential deposit.
If the coins have arrived, the delay is usually administrative: a name mismatch between the payout account and your verified identity, verification still pending, or routine bank processing on the SEPA leg. If the coins have not arrived, check whether they were still unbonding. Limits vary by payout method and verification level, and your sent transfer is visible on a Polkadot explorer.
