Convert Polkadot to euro at an indicative rate, and see the spread before you buy or sell through Banxa.

Polkadot's development has been centred in Europe since the beginning, and the euro pair reflects that with more depth than the asset's global ranking suggests. Euro books are quoted directly on the larger venues rather than derived, which makes this the most usable non-dollar pair Polkadot has.

How converting Polkadot actually works

Polkadot's available supply is unusually constrained, and it is the first thing to understand when reading a price. A large share of all DOT is bonded for staking, and unbonding takes 28 days during which the coins cannot be moved or sold. Unlike networks where staking is a soft commitment, that lock is real, so a meaningful portion of the supply genuinely cannot reach the market on any given day.

That has two effects. Sudden rallies meet thinner selling pressure than the total supply figure would suggest, and sudden falls can be sharper because holders who want out are queuing rather than selling.

Issuance is inflationary by design, running at roughly 10 percent a year at launch and adjusting according to how much of the supply is staked. The mechanism deliberately pushes the staking ratio toward a target, so the reward rate falls as more people stake and rises as they leave.

The number shown here is indicative. It averages across venues in a market that trades continuously, so it is already slightly stale by the time it renders, and two accurate sources can differ at the same instant without either being wrong.

What you would actually receive differs by the spread, the gap between the buying and selling price that is how any venue earns its margin. It is tight on deep markets and wide on thin ones. Order size matters too: a large conversion works down the order book and settles at an average worse than the quoted figure suggested.
