Sell Litecoin in Italy

Selling Litecoin in Italy follows the Italian financial income framework.

Mechanics. Send LTC to a regulated platform, complete identity verification under MiCA and Italian AML rules, agree on the sell rate in euros, pick a payout. Litecoin block times are around 2.5 minutes; six confirmations (about 15 minutes) usually suffice for deposit. SEPA bank transfer is the default.

Italian income tax. LTC disposal gains are taxed under the financial income framework at the 26% rate as of current rules. Cost base uses LIFO. This is general information.

A point specific to LTC. Litecoin's MimbleWimble Extension Blocks (MWEB) added optional confidentiality in 2022. Most regulated EU off-ramps, including Banxa Europe IV, accept only transparent LTC. LTC sent through MWEB cannot be deposited to most institutional venues; you need to peg back to transparent LTC first.

RW section declaration applies for foreign-held LTC; IVAFE at 0.2% on value.

Regulatory framework. CONSOB and Banca d'Italia oversee crypto-asset activity in Italy. Banxa Europe IV BV (EUIV) services Italian customers under MiCA.

Important information for retail customers in the EU. Crypto-assets are not deposits and are not covered by deposit-guarantee schemes.
