What is Bitcoin (PIX)
PIX is the instant payment system run by Brazil's central bank, and it moves reais between accounts in seconds rather than in batches. Selling Bitcoin through it means Banxa buys your BTC at a quoted rate and sends the reais straight to your account, at any hour and on any day.
You are addressed by a PIX key rather than by an account number. That key can be your CPF, a mobile number, an email address or a randomly generated string, and any of them resolves to the same underlying account. Which one you use makes no difference to how the payment travels.
The rail checks names in a way most do not. When a key is entered, PIX resolves it to the registered holder and shows that name before anything is confirmed, so a mismatch is visible up front rather than discovered later. The account still has to be yours and match your verified Banxa details, but here the system surfaces the problem before money moves.
Two clocks run on a sale, and on this rail they are wildly uneven. Bitcoin's own clock comes first: coins must reach Banxa's address and gather enough confirmations, roughly ten minutes a block and longer when the network is busy. The reais leg that follows is measured in seconds.
That inverts what people expect from a bank transfer. Nearly the whole wait belongs to the blockchain rather than to the payment system, so anything that speeds up confirmation shortens the sale, while the banking side has almost no room left to give.
Business days do not apply. PIX runs continuously, weekends and national holidays included, so a sale confirmed on a Sunday evening pays out on a Sunday evening. There is no cut-off to miss and no queue waiting for Monday.
One limit is worth knowing in advance. Brazilian banks apply lower default ceilings on PIX transfers made overnight, generally between eight in the evening and six in the morning, as a fraud control. A payout that would clear without comment in the afternoon can exceed the nighttime cap, so larger sales are easier during the day.
Cost is folded into the rate you are quoted rather than itemised, and two things sit inside it: the spread on the sale, and the conversion from dollars into reais, since Bitcoin is priced against the dollar first. The figure shown before you confirm is what reaches your account.
Sales also carry per-transaction and rolling limits that vary with your verification level. A first sale usually brings an identity check even for an established buyer, and larger amounts bring questions about where the Bitcoin came from, which are worth answering promptly.
Finality runs in both directions here. Once your Bitcoin reaches Banxa's address it cannot be recalled, and once the reais land they are equally final, since PIX has no ordinary reversal path. Getting the key right before you confirm matters more than it would on a rail that bounces bad payments back.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, and at night and on public holidays too. PIX runs continuously rather than in banking-hour batches, so a sale confirmed on a Sunday pays out on a Sunday. There are no business days to count and no cut-off to miss, which is a genuine difference from the bank rails used in most other countries.
Because the wait belongs to Bitcoin rather than to PIX. Coins have to reach the receiving address and gather confirmations, which takes roughly ten minutes a block and longer when the network is congested. Once that is done the reais move in seconds, so the blockchain is the slow half of this sale.
Brazilian banks apply reduced PIX ceilings overnight, usually between eight in the evening and six in the morning, as a fraud control. An amount that would go through in the afternoon can exceed the nighttime limit. Larger sales are more straightforward during the day, or the cap can be reviewed with your bank.
