Can I buy XRP with naira through Banxa?

Not at the moment. Banxa does not currently serve customers in Nigeria, so an XRP order placed from Nigeria will not complete, whether it is paid by card or bank transfer, and whether it is priced in naira or in another currency.

Would a VPN or an address outside Nigeria get around it?

No. Banxa checks where a customer is when the order is created and blocks VPN traffic, and its own documentation says a customer in a country it does not serve cannot complete an order whatever the residence on their account.

What should I check before using another platform?

Whether it is allowed to serve customers in Nigeria, and whether Nigeria's SEC has warned about it; the SEC publishes warnings about unregistered platforms regularly. Fraud rates in the local market are higher than in more mature ones, so verify who you are dealing with before sending money or XRP.
